Rhodies Smokin BBQ | Our Story

Ken's sons Neil and Hadley took the reins of the family business and fed generations of locals, loggers, highway travelers, and weary truckers. Ken’s Truck Town was a staple in the Snoqualmie Valley for decades. Neil Rogers' son Ken began working at Truck Town in 1984 at the young age of 13. The closure of Ken's Truck Town led to the opening of Ken’s Gas and Grocery in 2000, Rhodies BBQ followed soon after.

Ken's Gas and Grocery was opened by Ken Rogers on exit 34 of interstate 90 in 2000. It opened with a TacoBell/PizzaHut express which would soon become the very first Rhodies Smokin' BBQ. Rhodies BBQ became wildy sucessful amongst locals, hikers, bikers, truckers, and travelers and eventually grew to three locations in the greater Seattle area. Northbend, Seattle, and Marysville.

In 2013 Rhodies BBQ moved its sole operation to Exit 22

My restaurant experience started when I began working for my father at Ken's restaurant at age 13. My father was a great teacher and very well respected owner. One of the things he taught me was never ask someone to do a job that you won't do yourself. This is a quality that I feel all good managers/owners must have. If your employees see you cleaning up a floor drain on your hands and knees and all the other dirty jobs that come with running a restaurant they will respect your request when you ask them to do the same. I could write about my father for pages and pages about the things he taught me over the years. Sadly he passed from cancer in 2001. It is hard to write about someone you love and miss so much.
